How to save a list of your installed programs (Windows)

My people! Today's post aims to be useful for those Windows users, who like me, are going to change the operating system to a more recent version or, for those who are going to reinstall their system by formatting the computer.

As we well know, before a new installation of Windows, it is necessary to previously make a support of all important data so that it is not lost, and although it is optional, it is also recommended save a list of all installed programs, especially if it is for a client's PC, since it will be necessary to know what programs were installed in order to reinstall them on the new system, if this requires it.

If you do not know how to do it and you consider this possibility useful, I will tell you that the procedure is very simple and fast; within the reach of a click. That said, let's go to the mess like I do 😉

Create a list of installed programs

1. CCleaner to the rescue!

Most of us have the good CCleaner as a maintenance tool, if you also use it then you should know that with this soft you can go to the module of Tools > Uninstall programs, in the lower right corner click the button Save to a text file ... write a file name if you prefer, choose a save location and you're done.

Easy right? The .txt file that you save will show you data such as the Software developer, size and installation date of each program, as shown in the following image.

Although I must say that visually the final result may seem somewhat chaotic, it is nevertheless a quick way to get hold of the list of our installed programs in a jiffy 😀

2. Geek Uninstaller, the improved solution

For a better result I personally recommend using the freeware Geek Uninstaller, a good, nice and cheap complete uninstaller that you should consider as an alternative to the Windows uninstaller itself. In addition, it is available in Spanish 🙂
Well, an interesting feature of this program is that from the File menu you can export to HTML a list of your installed programs, which will immediately open in your default browser.

Thus generating a nice clean and tidy file with all the installed software, detailing the name of each program, its size and the date-time when it was installed on the system. The bottom of the HTML page also shows the number of installed programs and the total size they occupy on disk, that is, the drive corresponding to the OS.

2 Alternatives, which one do you choose?

I leave it to your choice to see which of these 2 options you prefer, perhaps both, and if you know of another tool that deserves to be in this publication, leave it in the comments.

Comment that by means of commands through CMD and without using programs, it is also possible to save a list of installed programs in a text file, but I think that it is more practical and efficient to do it with little programs, which are made to make life easier 😉
