[Trick] Copy text from an image with OneNote easily

On various occasions we find ourselves in need of having to copy text from imagesWhether it is to carry out a school / university work, document information or any other purpose, if you do not have a notion of how to proceed, this task will be truly titanic for the user, even more so if you start Googling in search of software OCR (Optical Character Recognition), as you will find hundreds of online and desktop alternatives to choose from; among many free and paid that exist. Which results in an unnecessary waste of time.

If you use Microsoft Office, you should know that you have as a great ally a software that can help you solve this task, it is OneNote, this digital notepad that many of us ignore, but that has many powerful tools to take advantage of.

You do not have it? You can download it for free and activate it legally with just your Microsoft email account; without having to buy and / or activate it.

Extract text from images with OneNote

Step 1:: The first thing is to click on the 'Insert' tab, to then proceed to load an image.

In this example I used a screenshot, which includes in addition to the text, an image inside it with more text to be able to demonstrate its efficiency.

Step 2:: We right click on the image that we have just inserted, so that the contextual menu is displayed and there choose the option «Copy text from image».

Step 3:: We open the notepad, in my case I prefer Notepad ++ and we simply paste with a Ctrl + V or the traditional right click option. We will instantly see that the text in the image has been extracted and pasted as is.

This shows that OneNote has a built-in OCR system, which is very efficient, of course, the final result will depend on the quality or high resolution of the image to copy your text.

Personally, I have tested it in the versions of Microsoft Office 2007, 2010 and 2013, in all of them the OneNote application has worked perfectly.

I invite you to try this tool, install it if you have not done it yet and share your experience with us, if it was useful, the likes, +1 or tweets will be appreciated =)
