How can I break the scarlet curse in Darkest Dungeon?

To break the scarlet curse, simply defeat the Court boss, the curse is automatically removed from all heroes on your roster. The ability to heal your heroes in the Sanatorium will be permanent after killing the Countess.

The Crimson Curse, the Darkest Dungeon expansion pack, introduces a number of new features, one of which is the Crimson Curse. This is simply a type of vampirism used in the game. All characters can contract the curse while fighting most of the new enemies introduced in the expansion, and its presence has a significant impact on gameplay. Depending on the player's decision, this curse can have a positive effect (if the character has received the Blood) or a negative effect (if the character is "starving" and has not received the Blood). Blood, which is used to control the curse, is quite available, but having too many infected heroes can be a problem. If your heroes do not receive Blood, they will take gradually increasing penalties to their stats, until they eventually die.

For this reason, it is important to get rid of the Crimson Curse as soon as possible. However, it is not that simple. In the first hours of the game there will be no way to heal the hero from it. The only solution is to defeat one of the three main bosses: the Baron, the Viscount and/or the Countess. When you defeat any of them, all your heroes (not just the ones used in the destruction mission) will be healed. They can (and probably will) get infected again.

There is another solution to this problem. When you defeat the three bosses mentioned, the Sanatorium, which is a building used to cure diseases and control habits, receives a new feature: it can now cure the Crimson Curse. This works on the same principle as any other disease. You have to "drop" the hero in the medical wing, select the disease of interest (in this case the Crimson Curse) and confirm your choice. After a week (i.e. after completing a task) the hero will exit the Infirmary and the curse will wear off.
