They will not only have to fight against unthinkable enemies, but also against stress, hunger, disease and impenetrable darkness. This is how Shambler is defeated.

How do you defeat Shambler in Darkest Dungeon?

Shamblers – The second mini-boss in the game (after the Collector), and one of the most difficult skirmishes in the game, especially if the player doesn't prepare properly. It is not necessary to progress through the game, neither in terms of story nor simply to unlock more boss battles. It is also not possible to fight it in the usual way, by selecting the appropriate mission.

The player has two "options" to fight the boss:

• • There is a very small chance of encountering it by accident (in the form of a random encounter) while traversing a dungeon with the lowest light level (set to 0).

• • You can summon this creature yourself by placing a torch on its altar (Shambler's Altar), i.e. the Curio, which can sometimes be found in the dungeon corridors.

Of course, it will be a surprise to the player if the light level drops to 0 and cannot be raised, but the fight against Shambler will have to be done in complete darkness, and there is nothing you can do about it.

The showdown is quite peculiar, as there is really no escaping it: if you decide to leave the battlefield, the next showdown for you will be with Shambler again. Your only option is to defeat the enemy or just run away from the entire mission; therefore, unfortunately, you will face a considerable penalty in the form of a large increase in tension for the team. In addition to fighting the boss, you'll also have to deal with the tentacles summoned from it, which, paradoxically, are perhaps more dangerous than the monster itself.
