Darkest Dungeon - gather, train and lead a team of heroes, each with their own flaws. The team must be led through spooky forests, deserted reserves, collapsed crypts and other dangerous locations. They will not only have to fight against unthinkable enemies, but also against stress, hunger, disease and impenetrable darkness. Here's how to summon and evade the zealot.

How to summon and dodge a fanatic in Darkest Dungeon?

The Crimson Curse adds many new features to the Darkest Dungeon. One of them is a new wandering boss, the Zealot. Like the Shambler and the Collector, the Zealot does not have a predetermined location where he can be found. Instead, he stalks teams of heroes who carry the Crimson Curse. The chance of encountering the Zealot increases as the number of infected heroes in the team increases. The chances of meeting the boss are as follows:

• • Less than 2 heroes infected with the Crimson Curse – The zealot has no chance to spawn in the dungeon.

• • 2 or 3 Heroes infected by the Crimson Curse – Zealot has a 20% and 33% chance to spawn, respectively.

• • 4 heroes infected by the Crimson Curse – there is a very high chance (75%) that an enemy will spawn in the dungeon.

As you can see, it's pretty easy to control the chances of your team encountering the Zealot. If you really don't want to fight him, don't take more than one infected hero on a quest, otherwise he won't be able to materialize in the underworld. If you really want to engage the enemy, create a team consisting solely of Crimson Curse-infected heroes: this increases the chance of engaging him by up to 75%. Remember that infested heroes take double damage from their stack – taking 4 Crimson Curse heroes on a mission might not be the best idea, because they take a lot of damage from the stack.

There are two things to note about Zealot's summon mechanics.:

• • The game only counts the number of infected heroes when you enter a dungeon. If you enter a team with only one Crimson Curse-wielding hero, and the other three are infected by it during the quest, this will have no effect on the Zealot challenge.

• • At the beginning of the quest you will be informed of the appearance of the Zealot in the dungeon. If the normal loading screen is replaced by the Zealot's annoyed face, it means there is a boss lurking in one of the rooms or corridors. This can be used to avoid contact with the enemy: if you don't want to engage him or your team isn't effective against the Zealot, you can just leave the dungeon at any time and the encounter won't even happen.
