How to change the hard drive icons

Changing the icons of the hard disk drives is not complicated at all, of course there are programs that specifically perform this task, but we will do it with our own effort so that we learn and know Windows.

Previously I recommend you download here a mini tutorial so you have more details and the task is easy for you.

1.- We open the Registry Editor, Start> Run and write regedit.
2.- We look for the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion | explorer
3.- Inside the folder Explore, we are looking for a call DriveIconsIf it is not there, we will create it with a right click on Explore and selecting the menu New>Clave:
4.- We create within DriveIcons two new folders named C y DefaultIcon using the same procedure as in the previous step, with the difference that the folder DefaultIcon must be inside the folder C.
Note.- We have created the folder C As an example, you must change the letter according to the unit to which you want to change the icon.
5.- The icon that we want to place is saved in a new folder within the same unit e.g. in my case C: Iconslinux.ico
6.- We return to the registry window and selecting the folder DefaultIcon, we double click on the registry entry, which appears in the right pane.
In the new window we will place the location of our previously saved icon, in our example C: Iconslinux.ico (always ending in Ico) we accept and with that already we will be done, we close the Editor of the Registration.
We entered My PC to see the changes and if we carry out the previous steps exactly, our task will have been completed successfully.

However, there is a free software that will help us to do this, we talk about My Drive Icon
