Thanks to a sold-out worldwide launch, thousands of gamers have finally been able to get their hands on the console for the first time. Upon opening the console box, gamers will be delighted to discover the new DualSense controller. This new accessory boasts state-of-the-art features including new haptic sensors and adaptive triggers for a more immersive gaming experience. Luckily for users, Sony has made setting up and charging the controller extremely easy. All necessary hardware is included.

How to charge the DualSense controller for PS5

First, check the console packaging for all cables. Under one of the cardboard pockets of the packaging is a USB-C cable.

Once you find it, turn on your PS5. Plug the cable into the USB-C port on the front of the drive. Now connect the other end to the port on the top of the controller. You will know the cable is connected correctly when the controller starts to glow.

To check that the controller is charging, simply go to the home page by pressing the PlayStation button. Once there, press it again to access the screen menu. At the bottom of the screen, in the third slot from the right, you will see a controller icon that will notify you of how much battery power your controller has. This icon will remain full while charging.

If the cable included with your PS5 is damaged or lost, fear not. All USB-C cables will work perfectly to connect and charge your devices. Similarly, it is not necessary to connect the controller to the console to charge it. Any device or outlet that supports USB-C will charge the DualSense controller perfectly, allowing you to charge it even on the go.

During Sony's presentation showcasing the new device, fans were shown a controller dock capable of charging multiple controllers at once. But it was not released with the console and is currently not available to customers. Gamers with more than one controller will be happy to know that there are multiple USB-C ports on the console, allowing multiple controllers to be charged simultaneously.
