How to fly in Minecraft in two different ways

How to fly in Minecraft in two different ways

Minecraft maps can be huge, so it's no wonder many players prefer flying to walking.

Flying in "Minecraft" means moving faster and more efficiently without being interrupted by mountains, trees and bodies of water. There are several ways to fly in Minecraft. In creative mode, the flight is done simply by pressing a key or a button on the console. In survival mode, however, you'll need to gain the ability to fly by finding an equippable item called Elytra. Here's everything you need to know about flying in Minecraft, regardless of your playstyle.

How to fly in "Minecraft" using creative or spectator mode

As you probably know, in "Minecraft" there are different game modes and styles. In Creative and Spectator modes, you look less like a gamer and more like a game god.

A part of this is his ability to fly freely anytime, anywhere. You just have to quickly press the jump button twice, which on the computer, for example, would be the space bar.

In flight, you can hold down the jump button to get up and hold down the crouch button to fall. You can also hold the sprint button in the air to fly faster.

In creative mode, you can fly anywhere, even faster than running.

To stop flying, double-tap the jump button. Since you are in Creative or Spectator mode, you will not take any damage if you fall from a great height.

Of course, do not fall into nothing - like the gaps between islands in The End - or you will die and have to be revived.

Even in creative mode, you cannot exist outside of the game world.

How to fly in Minecraft with Elytra in survival mode

For the brave and patient souls who are hesitant to use Creative mode, it is still possible to fly in Survival mode. But it's harder, and you won't be able to fly as freely.

To fly in Survival Mode, you have to find a rare item from Elitra, which is located somewhere in the final ship.

Finding Elitra

The final ships are in the reaches of Ender, the dimension where the Ender Dragon lives. Every time you defeat the Ender Dragon, two portals are created: one that takes you to the titles and back home, and one that takes you to the far reaches of the End.

To get into the portal, you will have to throw Ender Pearl into it.

If you don't want to face one of the main villains of the game yet, but are building patiently, you can also build a bridge from Ender the dragon's lair to the final city. Just keep in mind that this can take a lot of time and resources: the nearest island is more than 1.000 blocks away.

If you choose this route, place a bed next to the portal to the Ender world to create a respawn point, as falling from the world to your death will be a potential hazard.

Either way, once you've found the End City on the Outer Isles, your best chance of finding Elytra is to board the End Ship. Just over half of the End Cities have one of these ships.

Look for the floating ship of the End.

Inside the ship, find a level embedded with blocks of black obsidian. There you will see Elytra in an item frame, flanked by two chests -which also need to be looted- and protected by Shulker. Break the frame to retrieve the Elytra.

It is not necessary to kill Schulker, but it will make looting easier.

Flying in Elitra

Elitra works very differently from flying in creative and spectator mode. It's more of a glide, and you can't fly forever. However, this can be remedied by equipping fireworks while flying.

To use the Elitra, you have to attach the wings to your character's chest plate. Then go up to a great height, descend and press the jump key once to start the flight.

When you fly the Elitra, don't forget real-world physics. Flying at too steep an angle can cause it to stall and fall out of the sky. And hitting the ground or a wall too quickly can kill you.

Important: By default, you will fly in first person. Press F5 (or Fn + F5 on some Macs), or press the left stick on the controller to see your character in third person mode. This makes flying much easier.

When your feet start to wobble when gliding on Elytra, it's a sign that you're losing altitude. If you're not ready to go down yet, place a firecracker rocket on the hot panel and use this item. This will give you a huge speed boost and you'll be back in the sky. In theory, you can fly as long as you have the firecracker rockets.

If your player's legs start shaking or wobbling, plan to lower your height or launch rockets.

Note that the Elytra also has its own durability, which will decrease the more you fly. You can repair the Elytra by combining it with two Ghost Membranes at the Anvil, or by combining two Damaged Elytra.
