How to install Friday Night Funkin' mods!

Do you like Friday Night Funkin' and want to play some more? Mods can be a good way to tackle new content.

There are plenty of good options online, but installing mods in the game can be tricky if you don't know what you're doing.

Where to find mods

You can find mods on fnf.onl or on GameBanana. However, we prefer the latter as it is constantly being updated and the features tab on the website's Friday Night Funkin' page often features the best of the best. To download the mod, scroll down the page and in the “Updates” section you will see a download link. It should say "Manual Download" in green font.

Rap until the end.

Before trying to install the mod, copy the original files and create a separate folder. This will ensure that your original version of Friday Night Funkin' remains intact. Simply copy the file and press CTRL + V at the same time to make a copy in the same directory.

Now go to the downloaded mod and extract it. It may be a .rar file that you need to extract with another program. The main option is WinRAR, but if you're looking for something free, BreeZip from the Microsoft Store will do the trick. After installing the extractor, right-click on the mod and select “Open with”. A RAR extractor should appear.

Some mods, like Beach Time Blowout, have their own .exe files that run separately from the original game. Just upload it to the mods folder and have fun. Other mods, however, require a complete replacement of the original game's assets. Repeat the above process and when the mod folder is extracted, locate the assets folder in it and copy it.

Next, go to the Friday Night Funkin' folder and paste the mod assets folder to replace some of the existing files in the game.

We found a fun version of Dad from Friday Night Funkin' with popular actor and presenter Terry Crews taking over the role. As soon as we copied the assets and opened the game as usual, Terry Crews appeared before us in a rap battle with an Old Spice jar as a microphone with the song "Dadbattle".

Since mods can be different from each other, the steps may be different for some, but the general rule of thumb is this: copy the mod's assets folder and move it into the Friday Night Funkin' assets folder. Alternatively, the mod can run itself as its own .exe.
