How to prevent Far Cry 6 from opening a Twitch browser tab on exit

A setting in Ubisoft Connect will automatically lead you to watch Far Cry 6 on Twitch unless you disable it.

Greetings from Jara! I've started playing Far Cry 6 and, in addition to fighting the fascist forces of Antón Castillo, I've also had a bit of an annoyance. Every time I exit the game to my desktop, it automatically opens a tab in my browser and loads the Twitch Far Cry 6 category page.

I guess that implies the following: you just played Far Cry 6, so now you should be in the mood to see other people play Far Cry 6. Well, no, I'm not in the mood. It's annoying and intrusive, not to say presumptuous. If this happens to you too, here's how to stop it from happening.

Opening the browser tab is actually controlled by the Ubisoft Connect settings, not the Far Cry 6 settings. With Ubisoft Connect open, click the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) in the top left corner . Then select Settings.

Under General, uncheck the second box that says "Turn on post-game notifications for upcoming releases, events, promotions, and additions to my games." Then you won't have Ubi game ads appearing after your session ends, and your browser won't open the Twitch page when you exit to your desktop.

If you use Ubisoft Connect regularly, you may have unchecked it a long time ago; I know I did, because I remember exiting Assassin's Creed Origins and then I got a little pop-up offering me to buy Assassin's Creed Origins. What nonsense. But I recently reinstalled Ubisoft Connect on a new drive on my PC, so the setting was on by default.

I don't mind a game client saying "Hey, you've played one of our games, here's an ad for another one of our games," but opening a browser page and going to Twitch to watch a game I just quit playing is quite annoying. It's definitely not the first time that games behave strangely when you decide to leave them. Remember back in the '90s when games with the biased title "Oh, you wanna quit the game, kid? Go ahead, quit, coward." They were good times.
