Although unfortunately, it is not an option that is integrated, within Google Docs, right off the bat, but we must follow a series of steps, using external tools, to be able to do it. It is still a possibility and it can be done, we will explain how.
Solutions to add an image in Google Docs
There are really only two real options, in which we can add a background image, within a Google file, those are the ones that we will present to you now:
Add a Background Image in Google Docs Using Microsoft Word
This is the most common method and that many people use today, to put a background image in google docs. To do this you must have a copy of Word or a subscription to Office Online, unfortunately the option cannot work if you do not have what we have just indicated.
In case you have at hand the Office Online subscription or copy of Word, you must follow the steps that we will indicate:
Document Creation
This, in short, is the first step that you must follow, within it you must:
Create a document in Google Docs, only the text, it must not have any image or additional element.
Next you must go to Word and create a new document, then you must copy the content of the Docs document, within the one you just created in Word. You can also save your document using the .docx extension if you wish.
Add the image
This as such, is the second step, which must be followed if you want put a background in a google doc. Here you must:
Open the Word document, with its respective extension and select the "insert" option followed by "Image in the main ribbon".
Then you must choose the image in the dialog box that appears and choose "insert". That way an image will appear inside the Word document.
Adjust the image
These really are the final steps, for put a background image in a google document. In it we must:

Google Slides to put background in Google documents
This is the other known option, if desired create documents with background images, within it it is considered to use the tool also from Google, Google Slides, which is also ideal in situations where a lot of text should not be implemented.
To do this, you must follow the following steps:
Create a new blank slide, then click on the “file” section then select the option “set page”. Then you must click on “Custom” and add the height and width parameters, it is recommended that they be 11”x8”, because that is how the page is represented in Google Docs.
Then you must click on the “slide” tab and choose the option “change background”. At that moment a dialog box will appear with the name of “fondo”, you must click on the option “choose” and begin, searching within your own computer, for the image you wish to be added.
