Icarus, the biggest mistake in the history of Humankind. In the quest for wealth you have to explore the area, do some collecting, make your own tools and track the animals. That's where radars and scouting locations come into play.

Where are the radars and scouting locations on Icarus?

Before you start Livewire's terrain scanning task in Icarus, you may want to first level up a bit for points to unlock crafting tech tree items. When you are ready, proceed to complete the task.

You will find a radar very close to the northwest of your ship. Once you interact with it, grab the device that will be assigned to your “G” hotkey.

Three scan locations will then appear on the map (see image below). One is quite close and two are further away. At this point, you may want to prepare for the journey ahead:

• • Stone Ax (10x Fiber, 4x Stick, 8x Stone), Wooden Bow (30x Fiber, 24x Stick) and Stone Arrows (1x Fiber, 1x Stick, 1x Stone) or Bone Arrows (1x Fiber, 1x Stick) 5x stick, XNUMXx bone) are what he usually uses in case of fighting/hunting wild animals.

• • Bonfire (8x fiber, 8x stick, 24x stone) – you will need it to cook on the way.

• • Oxies – have a few in your inventory for oxygen regeneration.

• • A sleeping bag (20x fiber, 10x stick, 20x fur, 10x leather) and various wooden artifacts – keep at least one sleeping bag so you can use it as an impromptu respawn point. You can also build a small shelter if you wish.

Finding places and wildlife

Visit any of the three marked locations to complete the terrain exploration task in the Icarus game. At each location, you will see a device on which you can place the radar you have received. Once it "snaps" into place, press "E" to activate it.

Once the beacon is activated, run towards it, trying to stay a few meters away. The device will charge from zero to 100%. However, at 50%, wild animals will magically appear next to it, causing it to deactivate. They'll chew you to death if they spot you, so it's best to keep your head down.

Here are the animals in each zone:

• • Scan location #1 (L11/12 – north of the ship) – Two bears.

• • Scan location #2 (Q10 – northeast) – four wolves.

• • Scan location #3 (I13 – southwest around the mountain) – two cougars.

A pack of wolves and two cougars can be destroyed using archer sneak attacks. An accurate headshot will be enough to kill every mob. Bears are something else. If you can't deal with them quickly, they'll just rip you apart. At a minimum, having a makeshift shelter and a spawn should help you out in the event of death.

You can also sneak past the animals as they will disappear in a few seconds. You can then press "E" to wake up the device. When it reaches 100%, press "F" to return it to inventory. Once you're done with all three zones, head back to the dropship to complete the Icarus Terrain Exploration mission.

Note: You will unlock several new Prospect quests, such as the Dead List Extermination, as well as currency for the Orbital Workshop. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug that prevents people from getting currency rewards if they play offline.
