There are times when, for one reason or another, we have several Words of the same thing. It may be that each one has a part of the work, that it has been done in a group, and It's time to join the words. But how to do it?
If it is little text, it would consist of opening them all and copying and pasting in the final one. But can it be done in another way? The truth is that yes, and here we give you the keys to achieve it.
Join Words: the Office way to do it
The first method that we are going to give you is that of Microsoft Office, since he himself offers two ways to do it.
We have already mentioned the first one, because it consists of opening the main document, then the others, and, if there is little text, simply copy the document and paste it into that main one.
However, when the document is larger, or because you don't want to do that, the option offered by Office is the following:
- Open the main document with Word. It would be a good idea to put yourself at the end of the document. And if you are not sure how you are going to do it, it is best to do it in a blank document so that you do not have a problem or lose what you do need.
- Next, you have to go to the Insert / Text tab. There look for “Object”. And of the options it gives you, it points to Text from file.
- Now you will get a screen so you can tell it from which files you want it to take the text. If there are several, you will have to hold down the Control key so that you can take several. Of course, you should know that they are going to be combined in the order that they appear, not in the order that you select them. That means that if you want them to have a specific order, the only way to do it is individually.
- Once you have them, click on the "Insert" button and they should all appear to you.
Match Words by reviewing and combining
Another of the options that many users use to join Words and that at the same time allows them to combine the documents (and see the changes that have been made) is the following.
- With your document open, click Review / Compare.
- Within Compare, you have to click on the "Combine" option, since this way you will have the way to join the two documents into one and see the changes.
- In fact, you will have to say which is the original document and which is the revised document (the one with the changes). Once you specify everything, click OK.
- You will see that there is a button that says "More". If you hit it, many more options will appear. Well, there the important thing is in the "Show changes" thing. You have two sections: showing changes at the character or word level (we recommend this second option); and showing changes in the original, revised or a new document (we recommend the new one).
- Right after the program will offer you a visual of the combination where you will have the main document and combined, while on one side you will have the main and the revised one.
Link Words with apps and pages
If you don't have Office Word and the text editing program you use doesn't have this option, all is not lost. What you would have to do is use some of the pages that you find on the Internet, or, if it is with a mobile phone or a tablet, you could install some applications that will help you.
Here we talk about some of them, but first we want to warn you that sometimes the documents you have in hand are private or contain information that must be protected. By uploading them in these applications or websites, you lose control over them, something that is not always the best. So if that happens, perhaps the best thing to do is copy and paste, even if it takes more time.
If there is no problem with that, then go ahead with these options.
ILovePDF
We start with one that is common for working with documents and converting them. In this case we focus on joining the Words. And, for that, you have to go to the option Join PDF files. And yes, now you will say that what you have to join are Words.
With this option, you will first need to convert from Word to PDF (or do it with the text program). Then you will have to select those PDF files that you want to join. Once you do, wait until they give you the new PDF and then convert from PDF to Word to have an editable document.
It is true that it requires more time, but it can be a good solution.
ASPOSE
ASPOSE is one of the websites that is not well known, but you should. And it is that in it they are not going to ask you that the documents to be joined are PDF, but that it can join Words, PDF, JPG, PPT, Excel... Which offers multiple advantages.
What you have to do is upload the documents to the page and hit merge (the MERGE button). If you look, next to this you have the possibility to choose in which format you want the result to be saved, not only docx, but there are others such as PDF, Excel...
SmallPDF
With the same functionality as ILovePDF, here is another tool to use. In this case, you will first have to convert the Words into PDF to be able to upload them and wait a moment to download the new document with the two files in one.
PDF Editor: Merge and Separate PDF
In the case of applications, we are going to have the same problem, that is, you will first have to have the Words documents in PDF to be able to work with them and, with this, have the possibility of joining the documents to obtain a combined one (also in PDF). Then you will have to convert it back to Word.
Merge PDF
Finally, we recommend this last application where you can combine PDF; remove pages from PDF, put watermark (or remove it) and some more functions.
Of course, you will have to have Word in PDF to be able to work with the app, and then use a web or similar to convert it into Word.
