Test to know if your Antivirus works optimally (Windows)

Test for Antivirus

We well know that having the new version of an Antivirus and having the latest database updates does not guarantee a informatic security optimal; in terms of 100% protection and immunity to all malware in general is concerned.

That is why I want to recommend that you check your Antivirus settings, regardless of which one you have, to see if it works correctly. But first, to save time and make this more efficient, we can apply a simple trick that will pretend to be a Virus and if our Antivirus detects it; we can rest easy and trust that it works optimally.

I clarify previously that it is a harmless code (misleading) that will not cause damage to the equipment, to apply it, follow these steps:

  1. We open the Memo pad (or Notepad) and paste the following code:

    X5O!P%@AP[4PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*.

  2. We save the file (File> Save) and when clicking the button Save, our Antivirus must give us the alert, informing us of the detection of malicious code. As seen in the previous capture (in the case of NOD32 for example).

If you have carried out the previous steps correctly and your Antivirus presented the alert, you can rest assured (it is more rejoice); your Antivirus works perfectly, it is active and resident as it should be. Otherwise, you will have to review its settings and try the trick again.

If despite this, you still do not see the alert window, try reinstalling it or looking for other alternatives (Antivirus). Which? I recommend Avast o AviraI personally use the latter in its free version and it does detect any threat.

XD XD XD Very good, yes sir,
"THREAT DETECTED !!!". My good AVAST always alert. From time to time we have to spur the Guardian of our OS (especially if we manage with Windows) to see how he reacts ...
    Thanks friend for this invention.
    regards
    Jose

My good friend Jose, you can have a quiet coffee and relax knowing that your good AVAST, is fulfilling his task perfectly, you can trust him 😀

The EICAR test is a little 'trick', to check the functionality of our Antivirus, there are variations and different ways to test it. But I consider this to be the simplest and most effective to apply.

It is worth trying it from time to time as you say ...

    Greetings my dear 😉
