NieR Replicant how to fish

Your first fishing experience in Nier Replicant Remake will take place when you arrive at the Seaside looking for shaman fish.

Fishing in Nier Replicant is pretty straightforward. You arrive, cast your rod, wait and catch the fish. You have no control over how far (or even where) you cast, and fish appear automatically when there is bait in the water.

However, there are three things you control: the location, the bait, and the reel.

    • Fishing is only possible from certain places, where you can enter the water. And what is more important, some species of fish are only available in certain regions. Below are the specific locations for each step of the Fisherman's Gambit.
    • The bait determines the species of fish that are caught. In the description below, we will tell you which bait you need for each type of fish you are going to catch.
    • Hooking consists of setting the hook and then pulling the left drag pin back until you get the fish. Let's dwell on this in more detail.

When you cast, keep an eye on the net. It will dive once, warning that there is a fish nearby. On the second or third cast you will hear a splash. Set the hook by pressing the launch button again. If you try to hook a fish too hard for you, you will lose it immediately. For the stronger fish, going through various parts of the Fisherman's Gambit increases your fishing skill, making you strong enough to catch them.

Once you have hooked a fish, a blue bar will appear at the bottom of the screen. It's like a fight counter or reels. Lower the blue bar to zero to catch the fish.

To do this, pull back on the left thumb stick. As the fish moves left and right, move the thumb stick in the opposite direction. Draw a circle centered on the protagonist as in the previous image.

The controller also rumbles when you're in the right spot. Adjust the stick slightly until the vibration is the strongest, and then wait. Keep repeating the movements of the fish until you catch it or it moves away.

The speed of the hook (how quickly the blue bar decreases) depends on your ability to catch the fish.
