No Man's Sky – A Guide to Infinite Resources

This guide will tell you how to create an infinite amount of most resources in No Man's Sky?

How can I create an infinite amount of most resources in No Man's Sky?

A Guide to Infinite Resources

Key points:

To create an infinite amount of resources ⇒ you will need a medium refiner, and for some items a large refiner. Blueprints for both can be obtained from Anomaly. Please note that it will take some time to produce a large quantity of some items.

Basic resources

Abbreviation used:

    • CC = Carbon Condensed (this is going to take a long time to get used to).

The infinite dihydrogen:

    • To start you need: 40 dihydrogen, the more, the faster it will go.
    • Create as many hydrogen jellies as you can. Refine them in any refiner (portable enough, use a medium or large one so you don't need fuel) and you'll get 50 di of hydrogen.
    • You can create a Di-Hydrogen Jelly by purging the Di-Hydrogen in the Refiner to turn 30 Di-Hydrogens into 50, but this is very slow so I don't recommend it. The other way is much faster.

Exit: 40 dihydrogen → 50 dihydrogen.

infinite carbon.

You can get infinite Coal early on with a Portable Refiner (you'll need 30 Oxygen and 50 Ferrite Dust to get it). It's pretty slow and tedious, but you can get started with it without picking tons of plants, and in most cases it should be faster than medium/large amounts.

We recommend it, find a cave and do it while cobalt is being mined etc as long as the cleaner works.

To start you need: 100 units of carbon OR 34 units of condensed carbon (you can do less work if you manage to refuel, but still have some carbon left in your inventory (either picked up after refueling, or some carbon and some coal)).

Any amount of carbon/coal to forge.

How to cheat: If you don't have CC yet, fill your refiner with carbon, then convert all the carbon you have left to CC. From there, always use CC as fuel for your refiner!
Loop: Fill your portable refiner with condensed carbon and take it immediately. The 34 CC you filled the refiner with became 100 Carbon. Do this until you have <34 CC left. If you don't have enough fuel to fully charge your refiner, convert all the carbon you have to CC.

Repeat this cycle until you have all the carbon you want.

Exit: 34 cc (= 68 carbon) -> 100 cc (= 50 cc).

Infinite Coal with Medium Refiner:

Necessary resources:

    • Medium (/ large) refiner.
    • A bit of CC to start.
    • 1 dihydrogen OR 1 bite OR 3 facies.

1 Face + 1 CC -> 3 CC

Create a Facium

Use this once to get started if you don't already have a fascium:

    • 1 dihydrogen + 1 CC -> 1 mordant
    • 1 bite + 1 CC -> 4 Faecium

Have a big stack of Facium on hand, you'll need it from time to time (for example, to cheat Cobalt, see Minerals).

Exit: 1 dihydrogen + 2 cc -> 4 stools.

Infinite faces:

Use it from time to time to produce more facia without dihydrogen to maintain carbon production:

    • 3 Faecium -> 2 Mordite (+ 2 CC -> 8 Faecium)
    • Yield : 3 Faecium (+ 2 CC) -> 8 Faecium).

Total revenue:

    • 3 Faecium + 6 CC -> 8 Faecium + 4 CC -> 4 Faecium + 12 CC => 6 CC -> 12 CC, 3 Faecium -> 4 Faecium

infinite sodium:

    • 1 sodium + 1 CC -> 2 sodium nitrate
    • 1 Sodium Nitrate -> 2 Sodium
    • Yield: 1 sodium (+ 1 cc) -> 4 sodium.

Pure/Infinite Magnetized Ferrite:

    • 1 pure ferrite + 1 DC -> 3 magnetized ferrite
    • 1 magnetized ferrite -> 2 pure ferrite

Exit: 1 pure ferrite (+ 1 CC) -> 6 pure ferrite / 1 mag. Ferrite (+2 CC) -> 6 mag. ferrite

There is no infinite cycle for ferrite powder, but ferrite powder can be made from pure ferrite with oxygen:

    • 1 pure ferrite + 1 oxygen -> 2 oxidized metal
    • 1 Rusty Metal -> 2 Ferrite Powder

Exit: 1 pure ferrite (+ 1 oxygen) -> 4 ferrite powder.

Minerals (Money Maker #1)

infinity cobalt

Required Resources: Medium Refiner, 1 Bite, 1 Sodium Nitrate, 1 Ionized Cobalt.

To learn how to craft Mordite, see Basic Resources, Carbon Loop.

Easier: 3 Faecum -> 2 Mordite.

    • 1 bite + 1 sodium nitrate -> 4 bone marrow bulbs (you can also get them in caves, but the purification will be much faster if you need a large amount).
    • 1 Bone Marrow Bulb + 1 Cobalt -> 2 Ionized Cobalt
    • 1 Ionized Cobalt -> 2 Cobalt

Exit: 1 bite + 1 sodium nitrate -> 4 ionized cobalt / 8 cobalt (if you have 1 to start the cycle).

Infinite salt/chlorine.

This requires oxygen, which can't be produced indefinitely, but if you have it, that's where you want to use it. However, it is easier to make money with Cobalt, in my opinion.
Required Resources: Medium Refiner, Dihydrogen/Salt/Chlorine, Oxygen

    • 1 dihydrogen + 1 oxygen -> 1 salt
    • 2 salt + 2 oxygen -> 5 chlorine
    • 1 chlorine + 2 oxygen -> 6 chlorine

Elements

They require the same amount whether using ferrite powder or pure ferrite, but since infinite amounts of pure ferrite can be produced, but ferrite powder requires oxygen to produce, I suggest using pure ferrite.

    • 1 Sodium Nitrate + 1 CC -> 2 Dioxite
    • 2 Dioxite +1 Pure Ferrite / Ferrite Powder -> 1 Phosphorus
    • 2 phosphorus +1 pure ferrite / ferrite powder -> 1 uranium
    • 2 uranium +1 pure ferrite / ferrite powder -> 1 pyrite
    • 2 pyrite +1 pure ferrite / ferrite powder -> 1 paraffin
    • 2 paraffin +1 pure ferrite / ferrite powder -> 1 ammonia
    • 2 Ammonia +1 Pure Ferrite / Ferrite Powder -> 1 Dioxite

Since dioxite is so easy to make (both carbon and sodium can be produced indefinitely), I usually start there, but if you have one of the other elements readily available, you can of course start anywhere in this cycle.

Necessary resources:

    • 1 Ammonia = 2 Paraffin + 2 Pure Ferrite = 4 Pyrite + 4 PF = 8 Uranium + 8 PF = 16 Phosphorus + 16 PF = 32 Dioxite + 32 PF = 64 Sodium + 64 Nitrate + 64 PF
    • 1 paraffin = 2 pyrite + 2 FP = 4 uranium + 4 FP = 8 phosphorous + 8 FP = 16 dioxite + 16 FP = 32 sodium + 32 nitrate + 32 FP
    • 1 pyrite = 2 uranium + 2 FP = 4 phosphorous + 4 FP = 8 dioxite + 8 FP = 16 sodium + 16 nitrate + 16 FP
    • 1 uranium = 2 phosphorous + 2 FP = 4 dioxite + 4 FP = 8 sodium + 8 nitrate + 8 FP
    • 1 phosphorus = 2 dioxite + 2 FP = 4 sodium + 4 nitrate + 8 FP

metals

I'm going to reduce the chromatic metal with CM. On how to craft the items needed to make gold/silver/platinum (dioxide, etc.), see the "Elements" section.

copper, cadmium, emery, indium, chrome metal

To get an infinite loop with these, you'll need some Emeril or Indium to start with. Indium is more effective, but Emeril works too.

Be careful not to run out of base material, never turn everything into Chromatic Metal!

Indian Infinity:

Required Resources: 3 Indium (1 more is always needed to start converting CC into Basic Material)

    • 2 indian -> 4 cm
    • 1 indian + 1 cm -> 2 indian

Exit: 1 indian -> 2 indian

Infinite Emeril:

Resources Needed: 3 Emeril

    • 2 Emeril -> 3cm
    • 1 Emeril + 1 CM -> 2 Emeril

Yields: 3 Emeril -> 4 Emeril.

Infinite Chromatic Metal:

    • Use any of the above methods and use a spare Emeril or Indium to make Chromatic Metal:
    • 2 Indian -> 4 cm / 2 emery -> 3 cm
    • Indian is more effective.
    • You can also use the following method, but gold + silver is too hard to do (see below) to be worth it:
    • 1 gold + 1 silver + 1 copper, cadmium, emery or indium

You can also use activated variants of copper, cadmium, emery, or indium to make CC, but this only works for Chromatic Metal, you can't convert CC back to activated metal, so there's no infinity option with them.

Infinity of copper and cadmium:

To create an infinite amount of them, it's easiest to use Indium or Emerald to get an infinite amount of Chromatic Metal, and then you can use this to create Copper or Cadmium:

    • 1 copper + 1 cm -> 2 copper
    • 1 cadmium + 1 cm -> 2 cadmium

You could also use the following method for Cadmium, but once you can do that, you'll probably already have access to Emeril or Indium, which are easier to duplicate, so not worth it, imho:

    • 1 pure ferrite + 1 cadmium -> 2 cm
    • 1 cadmium + 1 cm -> 2 cadmium

Logout2 cadmium → 3 cadmium.

Note. You can use pure ferrite to duplicate Emeril and Indium (pure ferrite + Emeril = 3 CM, pure ferrite + Indium = 4 CM), but the method described above is much easier, so I recommend it.

infinite gold:

I am not referring to some method of gold production where one of the necessary components cannot be produced indefinitely.

Pure ferrite can also be substituted by doubling the amount of ferrite powder, but since it cannot be reproduced, I prefer to use pure ferrite.

You can also use 5 platinum or 20 tritium instead of silver or gold, but they are harder to find.

    • 30 uranium + 60 pure ferrite + 10 gold OR 20 silver -> lemmium
    • 30 phosphorus + 30 ionized cobalt OR 60 cobalt + 10 gold OR 20 silver -> magnesium-gold
    • 30 Dioxide + 30 Ionized Cobalt OR 60 Cobalt + 10 Gold OR 20 Silver -> Grantin

Magno Gold / Lemmium / Grantin -> 125 Gold

With the right recipe they can also be made without a refiner, but that would require a lot more ferrite or cobalt, so I prefer to use a refiner.

If you have oxygen available (you can't cheat, ferrite powder can also be made with just oxygen):

    • 1 Ferrite Powder + 1 Oxygen + 1 Emeril = 10 Gold

infinite silver:

You can also use 5 platinum or 20 tritium instead of silver or gold, but they are harder to find. Pure ferrite can be replaced by twice as much ferrite powder.

    • 30 paraffin + 30 ionized cobalt OR 60 cobalt + 10 gold OR 20 silver -> aronium
    • 30 Pyrite + 60 Pure Ferrite + 10 Gold OR 20 Silver -> Dirty Bronze
    • 30 ammonia + 30 ionized cobalt OR 60 cobalt + 10 gold OR 20 silver -> Gerox

Aronius / Dirty Bronze / Gerox -> 250 silver

With the right recipe they can also be made without a refiner, but a lot more ferrite or cobalt would be needed, so I prefer to use a refiner.

Infinite Platinum:

    • 1 silver + 1 gold -> 1 platinum

If you have oxygen available (you can't cheat, ferrite powder can also be obtained with only oxygen):
1 Ferrite Powder + 1 Oxygen + 250 Base Metals -> 10 Platinum

Geodesite or iridesite can also be upgraded to 250 platinum:

Geodesite = 1 dirty bronze + 1 gerox + 1 lemmium (= 500 silver + 125 gold -> 250 platinum)

This requires half the amount of gold, but twice the amount of silver you might need, so if you have silver available but need to earn gold, this is a decent alternative.

Iridesite = 1 aronium + 1 magno-gold + 1 grantin (= 250 silver + 250 gold -> 250 platinum)

This requires the same amount of resources as the combination of Gold and Silver.

Gases

There may not be a way to create infinite gases, but you can convert them into each other if you have a way to get one of them (with a gas extractor, for example).

Nitrogen, sulfur, radon:

    • 1 nitrogen + 1 chromatic metal -> 1 sulfur
    • 1 sulfide + 1 chromatic metal -> 1 radon
    • 1 radon + 1 chromatic metal -> 1 nitrogen

For how to make an infinite amount of Chromatic Metal, see Metals.

Oxygen:

    • Salt + Nitrogen -> Algae Bag
    • Algae Bag + Carbon / CC -> Oxygen

Plants

To learn how to craft the necessary elements (dioxide, etc.) and gases, see the sections on "Elements and/or Gases."

You'll need one of the plants to start with, then you can make more with the appropriate item.

You can make plants using gases, but you can't make them indefinitely, so I always made a single plant to start with and then used the appropriate item to make more.

I also recommend always carrying at least one of each plant to make more of, as you'll need them in many crafting recipes.

frost crystal

    • 2 Dioxite + 1 Oxygen / 1 Dioxite + 1 Radon -> 1 Ice Crystal
    • 1 ice crystal + 1 dioxite -> 2 ice crystals

solanium

    • 2 phosphorus + 1 oxygen / 1 phosphorus + 1 sulfur / 1 dihydrogen + 1 sulfur -> 1 solanium
    • Solanium + phosphorus -> 2 solanium

cactus meat

    • 1 pyrite + 1 sulfur / 2 pyrite + 1 oxygen -> 1 cactus pulp
    • 1 Cactus Meat + 1 Pyrite -> 2 Cactus Meat

star lamp

    • 1 paraffin + 1 nitrogen / 2 paraffins + 1 oxygen -> 1 star
    • 1 paraffin + 1 star -> 2 stars

fungal form

    • 1 ammonia + 1 nitrogen / 2 ammonia + 1 oxygen -> 1 mushroom form
    • 1 ammonia + 1 fungal form -> 2 fungal form

gamma root

    • 1 uranium + radon / 2 uranium + 1 oxygen -> 1 gamma root
    • 1 uranium + 1 gamma root -> 2 gamma roots

Others

Deuterium

    • 1 dihydride + 1 tritium -> 1 deuterium

It can be crafted, but since Tritium can only be bought or found on Asteroids, it will be hard to find. Fortunately, for many recipes it is not necessary.

It's not processing.

As far as I know, it's not possible to craft the following items, you have to buy/collect them.

    • Material – Source – Use
    • Tritium – Source: Purchase, Asteroids – Ship Fuel
    • Silica Dust – Source: Landscape Manipulator – Making
    • Cytophosphate – Source: underwater plants – Rarely used to make items.
    • Basalt – Source: Volcanic Planets – Cannot be used
    • Pugneum – Source: Sentinels – Crafting, Refining (mostly replaceable there)
    • Activated copper/cadmium/emeryl/indium: can be substituted for their conventional counterparts
    • Residual mucus / overflowing mold / living mucus / viscous fluids.
