Redfall 5 things you should know

The presentation of Xbox and Bethesda at E3 2021 was considered by many to be a high point, with reviews and announcements of upcoming Xbox content for the next year and a half.

And for the first time in a while, the future looks bright for Xbox gaming. Perhaps the highlight of the presentation was the final announcement: Redfall.

Here's everything you need to know about Redfall, the new Xbox exclusive.

What is Redfall?

Redfall is an open world cooperative FPS developed by Arkane Austin, the team that created Prey and Dishonored, in which you team up with your friends to fight against a small town overrun by vampires. Players can choose one of four characters, each with special equipment, and can play alone or in teams of up to four people.

What is the plot of the Redfall game?

Redfall is set in the fictional island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, which has been invaded by vampires who have succeeded in blocking out the sun and isolating the town from the outside world. It's 30 Days of Night, but in a small American town, not in the middle of the Arctic Circle, and the vampires are the result of a failed science experiment. So nothing to do with "30 days", I think.

Who are the human characters?

The official announcement trailer showcased the four main playable characters in Redfall.

• • Devinder Crowley is a paranormal investigator and inventor searching for the truth about the Redfall incident.

• • Leila Ellison is a biomedical engineer who gained telekinetic abilities after working at the Aevum Therapeutics research center.

• • Remy De La Rosa is a Marine veteran and combat engineer who is accompanied at all times by Bribon, her combat drone.

• • And finally, Jacob Boyer, a military sniper, who now has vampire eyes and a ghostly raven.

Are there special vampires?

As stated above, the Redfall vampires are the result of a failed scientific experiment, so they are still evolving. While normal vampires will have to be killed, along with the hordes of human cultists who have come to worship the vampire lords, other vampires will have special abilities that make them deadly.

The only special vampire that has come to light so far is Angler, who uses a psychic harpoon to distract people from his crew. Arkane has promised that there will be more special vampires in the final game, one of which will no doubt be the strange, multi-armed vampire king seen at the end of the trailer. I don't want to mess with this guy.

Where and when can I play Redfall?

Redfall will be released as an Xbox Series X console exclusive | S, next to PC, in summer 2022, which means it won't be available on PS5 or previous-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One. Redfall will launch on day one on Xbox Game Pass, which means that you will be able to play the game with three of your friends from launch, paying only a small subscription fee. Not bad. However, there has been no mention of cross-play on Xbox and PC yet. Hopefully this matter is being studied and that we will know more about it soon.
