Players of Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be able to gather large armies from different regions in Mordor, and here's how players can recruit enemies.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War builds on the open world activities offered in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. One of the defining features of the franchise, the Nemesis system creates important player-enemy relationships with adaptive interaction. Orcs, Uruks, and Ologs may hold a grudge and even betray the player, but still remember their previous encounters.

Also, in each part of Middle-earth, players initially have a minority and then raise an army of Mordor's best people. Recruitment involves a strategic plan of attack, how to reduce Mordor's forces while at the same time getting the enemies to join them in their fight to defeat Sauron. Domination refers to the Drain ability, which allows players to restore health to enemies. As Dominate is tied to the Drain ability, whenever players drain an enemy, they also become Dominated and fight alongside the player as a loyal NPC ally.

While creating an immediate chase for common enemies can be interesting and help players on the battlefield, it's irrelevant to legitimate recruitment. Players can overpower common enemies at will in Middle-earth: Shadow of War in the open world, but only named captains participate in the recruitment strategy.

But once Domination is unlocked, players face another hurdle before they can officially recruit an enemy. Captains must be fought until their health is so low that they become broken, which is indicated by the orange rank banner turning green. Once a captain is broken, players can overpower him at any time, though they will likely be hampered by other enemies if the captain isn't isolated.

Selebrimbor's ethereal grip grips the enemy and the player has several options to determine the captain's fate: Shame, Fight to the Death, and Wrap. Recruiting the captain is very simple: simply select him from the options provided and he is instantly added to the ranks of followers and available in the Nemesis system. However, if players attempt to recruit a higher level captain, the Recruit option will be grayed out and unavailable. In this case, Middle-earth players can shame the captain, which lowers his power level.

The player is then instructed to find the captain again, but this time they will have the option to successfully overpower him if they have shamed down to a low enough level.
