Trick to update XP until 2019

Windos XP still lives! well, not officially and not thanks to Microsoft, but a nice hack has been discovered that allows upgrade XP until 2019, which gives us users a feeling of being more secure with this system that many of us still use. Doing a bit of memory remember that on April 8 the support of Windows XP was put to an end, more than a month ago, some companies were not able to migrate their operating systems on the date established for the end of support and these through payment continue to receive updates and security patches… And for home users?

The solution: "Windows Embedded POSReady"

According to Wikipedia tells us:

This operating system is the one used by ATMs (automated teller machines), pumps, points of sale, some consoles and video game machines, etc.

Well, the interesting thing about this is that Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 is based on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the best thing is that ! has support until April 9, 2019! 😎

Of course, normal users cannot download these updates, so the following hack opens up the possibility of getting these updates in a two-by-three, through a registry modification (regedit), which by the way is very easy to do. Apply.

Step 1:. Open the notepad

Step 2:. Copy and paste the following into it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMWPAPosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001

Step 3. Go to the menu File> Save as> Type (all files) and give it any name, the important thing is that it has the extension .Reg

In such a way that the saved file is as in the following capture:

Now it only remains to execute that file so that the information is added to the registry and voila, to receive updates likes a boss until 2019 😉

Run Windows Update and you will notice that there are updates available.

Shortcut:

If you want to avoid doing the above, download this file, unzip and run.

Clarify that the hack currently works on 32-bit systems, for 64-bit systems the procedure is somewhat more complicated as explained in this community.

And 13 years of seeing good XP every day are not forgotten that easily, I share the opinion that this OS was the king and a great success for Microsoft, as you say it had its vulnerabilities, but also its benefits that must be recognized, reasons that make users like me resist migrating it.

Of course, the free operating system is not far behind, it is just a matter of throwing a cable for dissemination to home users 😉

Thank you José, friend, for always being present with the support.

    Hello!,
I think that some time ago I commented in a post that XP was the best Windows for me. 7 is very good too, but what do you want me to tell you?, An OS that has been working for us for so many years ... in the end we appreciate it ...
And solutions are being sought by the community to the problems that are emerging in such a way that this good Windows (with its vulnerabilities but also with its great software compatibility).
Nowadays I usually use Linux because everything just works better and faster and from time to time 7 or XP (already by longing and almost never online, by the way a comment, it would be interesting to install Malwarebytes Anti Exploit ...!).
After years with Lubuntu, which I recognize its enormous value, I switched to Linux Mint, just as simple but much more complete. I stopped giving Ubuntu opportunities since 10.10.
And after this brick, thank good Marcelo for posting an article like this which will be appreciated by those Windows XP users who use this OS as the main (and only) OS on their PCs.
    Nostalgic greetings ...
