What is blender and what does the software work for?
Blender is a software that can be used on several platforms and is dedicated to the illustration and design of three-dimensional graphics, exemplified, rendering, which means creating a digital image from a model that can be in 2D or 3D, lighting and also they can edit videos. This program is open source, that is, its use is free.
History of Blender software development
It can be said that the history of this software is very interesting, this because it was full of setbacks to go on the market.
The development began in 1988 with the appearance of the animation studio in Holland called NeoGeo, Ton Roosendaal was one of those responsible for this. Which was established as one of the most important in that country.
At the end of 1993, the development of said software began, which would be called "Blender's Windows System", the project was taking shape and it was for the year 1995, when the decision was made to rewrite the code from scratch, giving origin to what is known as blender. Created as an application to generate 3D graphic content.
The first publication was at the beginning of 1998 and is made through the Internet and for free, with versions for the public for Linux and Free BSD.
But, for this same year they begin to have financial problems leading to the closure of the NeoGeo study. As a result of this, Ton Roosendaal and another colleague created “Not a Number” (NaN). The main purpose of this company was to continue with the development of blender.
NaN in the year 2000 receives large investments that allow the release of Blender 2.0, made up of a video game engine. But the company's plans did not go as planned and in 2001, NaN became a small company.
But at the beginning of 2002, due to sales problems and the economic climate that was not the best at that time, NaN had to close its activities.
In May 2002, Ton Roosendaal created the Blender Foundation with the help of other people who had supported him during his journey. The purpose of the foundation was to resume the development of free software.
Being in October 2002 the release of Blender under a figure of GNU (General Public License). Since then, Blender has not stopped growing.
